Writing a symbol equation The formulae of the reactants always go first in a symbol equation. The reactants are separated using a + symbol. After the reactants, there is an arrow to show that the chemical reaction has taken place. The products are written after the arrow and are also separated by + symbols.
Basic Steps to Setting Up Equations Determine what the question is asking. Write down the relevant information in simple statements. Assign symbols to unknown values that need to be found. Determine how the statements relate to each other mathematically.
If you need to use an equation, add or write it in Word. Select Insert Equation or press Alt + =. To use a built-in formula, select Design Equation. To create your own, select Design Equation Ink Equation.
Click the screenshot button or enter the shortcut ctrl+alt+M. Click and drag the box around your desired equation to Snip it. Copy MathML to your clipboard. Paste MathML into your Word document.
Method 1: Insert a Preset Equation Step 1: Open the Word document. Step 2: Place cursor in the document where you want to insert an equation. Step 3: Go to Insert tab in the Ribbon, click on the Equation drop-down icon in the Symbols section at the top right corner of the screen.
The equation numbers should be enclosed by parentheses and placed at the right-hand side of the page. If you are referring to an equation in the text, use eq. (3) (or other abbreviations). If it is the first word in a sentence, capitalize it, i.e., Eq.
Insert an equation Open a document in Google Docs. Click where you want to put the equation. Click Insert. Equation. Select the symbols you want to add from one of these menus: Greek letters. If it is the first word in a sentence, capitalize it, i.e., Eq. (3). It is also pretty normal to refer to an equation in the text with only its number within parentheses, like (3). In this case, if it is the first word in the sentence, spell out Equation before the number, like Equation (3).
How to Write an Equation Read the entire problem several times. Look for keywords like more, less, is, etc. Replace the keywords with their mathematical operations and shorten the words to variables. Solve the resulting equation. Answer the problem clearly in a complete sentence.
