The date has to be in dd/mm/yyyy. If the date is in any other format, e.g. mm/dd/yyyy or yyyy/mm/dd, then it will get flagged with a comment in that cell to change the date to the correct format.
Check for Automatic Recalculation. On the Formulas ribbon, look to the far right and click Calculation Options. On the dropdown list, verify that Automatic is selected. When this option is set to automatic, Excel recalculates the spreadsheets formulas whenever you change a cell value.
To quickly enter the current date in your worksheet, select any empty cell, and then press CTRL+; (semicolon), and then press ENTER, if necessary. To insert a date that will update to the current date each time you reopen a worksheet or recalculate a formula, type =TODAY() in an empty cell, and then press ENTER.
Custom Formatting Select all the cells that have the dates for which you want to show the month name. Click the Home tab. In the Number group, click on the dialog box launcher icon (or you can use the keyboard shortcut Control +1). In the Category options, click on Custom. In the type field, enter mmmm. Click OK.
First, pick the cells that contain dates, then right-click and select Format Cells. Select Custom in the Number Tab, then type dd-mmm-yyyy in the Type text box, then click okay.
On the Insert tab, in the Text group, click Date Time. In the Date and time dialog box, select the format you want and click OK.
Enable Fill Handle If this does not happen, your fill handle is not enabled. To enable the fill handle: In the Ribbon, select File Options and then select Advanced. Make sure Enable fill handle and cell drag-and-drop is checked, and then click OK.
To quickly use the default date format, click the cell with the date, and then press CTRL+SHIFT+#. If a cell displays ##### after you apply date formatting to it, the cell probably isnt wide enough to show the whole number. Try double-clicking the right border of the column that contains the cells with #####.
Inserting todays date and current time in Excel Ctrl + ; shortcut inserts the today date in a cell. Ctrl + Shift + ; shortcut inserts the current time. To enter the current date and time, press Ctrl + ; then press the Space key, and then Ctrl + Shift + ;.
