If you are 18 or older getting your first drivers license in Florida you are not required to hold a learners permit you can go straight to a Class E unrestricted drivers License. Here are the steps to follow. Florida has many drivers that get their first drivers license as an adult.
To get a permit, youll pay a $33 fee and must take a standard vision test at your local DMV, in addition to the written knowledge test. Those under 17 will also be required to provide proof they are enrolled or have completed a drivers education program.
To obtain a DL, you must: Be at least 16 years old. Have held your instruction permit (in California or another state) for at least 6 months. Provide proof of completion of driver education and driver training.
Instruction permit - $20. Basic license, ages 18-20 - $5. Basic license, ages 21-68 - $30.
After you complete your Florida teen drivers education course, youll be ready to take the learners permit test on road rules and road signs. With DriversEd.com, you can take the test online instead of at the DHSMV. Plus, Its totally free! Once you pass the test, you can pick up your learners permit.
It will cost $33 to get your driving permit in California. Dont forget to bring the following to your appointment: Your drivers ed certificate or driver training enrollment forms. Your Social Security number.
There is no cost for these tests. Be sure to take all of the following to the DMV: Certificate of Completion of Driver Education DL-400C - signed by parent or guardian (the pink slip we mail you when you complete this course)
You may not drive alone between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 am except to and from a school activity, job or for an emergency, unless accompanied by licensed driver 21 years old or older. Your driving privilege cannot be suspended, revoked, or denied at the time of application.
You can take the permit exam online at FirstTimeDriver.com. Alternatively, you can take the exam in person at a FLHSMV location or through a high school Driver Education Licensing Assistance Program.
