Hi everyone, my name is Kevin. Today I want to show you how you could scan in documents or even whiteboards using either an iPhone or an Android phone entirely for free. And before we jump into this, as full disclosure, I work at Microsoft as a full-time employee. My HR department requires me to say this because Im going to be talking about a Microsoft product today. Now you might be wondering, well, hey, I could just use the camera app on my phone to take a picture of the document and that works fine. For example, here I am on my iPhone and I have this document and I can go ahead and lets take a quick picture of it. The thing though is its not the best quality for a scan and there are some apps out there that can take much better photos of documents. And today I want to show you one of them called the Office app made by Microsoft. Now this app will work on either an Android phone or an iPhone. Today I have an iPhone so Im going to show you how to do

How to scan documents on your iPhone or iPad Open Notes and select a note or create a new one. Tap the Camera button , then tap Scan Documents . Place your document in view of the camera. If your device is in Auto mode, your document will automatically scan. Tap Save or add additional scans to the document.
Use your built-in phone or tablet camera to take a photo of your document. Then, attach the photo to your email. This option turns your mobile device or tablet into a document scanner. Similar to how you take a picture, the app will convert your photo into a PDF or like file type.
You should be able to set where it is saved when setting up the scanner. Automatically, a scanner will create a folder for all scanned files but the location will be based on what was set up in the installation. The computer will always suggest it on your storage drive, usually in the documents folder.
If youre using an Android, the best way to scan documents is through the Google Drive app. You can scan documents directly into Google Drive by tapping the + button in the lower-right corner of the home screen.
The default save location for scans is the Scanned Documents subfolder of the Documents folder. (If you want to change that manually, you can move the entire Documents folder to a new location.) Then, you can navigate to This PC Documents Scanned Documents to find the scanned files on your Windows 10/8.1/8/7 PC.

Scan documents as PDFs on an Android device and open the Drive app. Tap New Scan . When youre done scanning, tap OK. (Optional) To scan multiple pages, tap Bulk add. OK. Tap Save. Enter a name for the file, choose a Drive account to save the file to and a Drive folder, and tap Save.
If youre using an Android, the best way to scan documents is through the Google Drive app. You can scan documents directly into Google Drive by tapping the + button in the lower-right corner of the home screen. When the menu slides up from the bottom, select Scan.
The scanned pages will populate in a new note in the Notes app.
