A CSV (comma-separated values) file is a text file in which information is separated by commas.
Go to File Save As. Click Browse. In the Save As dialog box, under Save as type box, choose the text file format for the worksheet; for example, click Text (Tab delimited) or CSV (Comma delimited).
To write data into a CSV file, you follow these steps: First, open the CSV file for writing ( w mode) by using the open() function. Second, create a CSV writer object by calling the writer() function of the csv module.

Open an CSV file using the Text Import Wizard In Windows Explorer, rename the CSV file with a TXT file extension. For example, rename Import. in Excel, open the import file. Select File Open, and browse to your file. The Text Import Wizard is displayed. Your file will be opened in Excel.
To edit your csv files, we strongly advise you to use a simple text editor such as Notepad++ or Sublime Text. Using Excel to edit your files is more complex: Excel renders certain values such as ICCID or IMEI in numbers and truncates them, leading to information being not easily usable.
To open a comma-delimited (CSV) file properly, use Excels Data Import from Text feature to open the import wizard and set all columns as text. If you click the file and allow Excel to open it automatically, the columns might be formatted improperly.
There are no specified limits of what characters can be used in a CSV file. What limits you is how your file is encoded. If you recall from our article on choosing the right encoding, UTF-8 is the recommended file encoding, due to its vast support of just about any character possible.
Saving in Microsoft Excel Open a . CSV document in Microsoft Excel. Click File. Select Save As Select File Type as CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited) (. csv). Click Save. If prompted, choose Keep Current Format.
Opening the file Find your CSV file stored on your computer, and click Open. In the Text Import Wizard window, be sure Delimited is selected as your file type. In the File origin drop down, select 65001 : Unicode (UTF-8). Check the My Data has headers box. Click the Next button.
