Click or tap where you want to insert the special character. Go to Insert Symbol More Symbols. Go to Special Characters. Double-click the character that you want to insert.
The Option key helps you add all kinds of accent and diacritic marks to your text. Just press and hold the Option key (the same as the Alt key), then press the e key, and then release them and press the letter key to which youd like to add the accent.
Theres a keyboard command combo for that. macOS lets you paste text without its original formatting. Instead of pressing Command+V, press Option+Shift+Command+V to paste text without any formatting.
If you are typing on a Mac: Long press on the key you want until the special characters option appears on the screen. In this case Ill long press on e and this is what happens: Next select your special character by pressing the corresponding number. Ill press the number 2 to select the character.

Press a modifier key, or a combination of modifier keys, to see special characters or symbols you can type. For example, press and hold the Option key or the Option and Shift keys.
