hello in this video Im going to be teaching you how to format and style citations and footnotes in a history style paper this example is from a book review for a history class thus you only need one source one citation and this would be the book that youre reviewing itself in this case it is the Barbary Wars and American independence in the Atlantic world what you need to how you need to format the citation is last name of the author first name and the author whole title of the book and this should be the whole title it should also be in italics and then you have the publisher of the book and then the year that it was published in the next part of using citations in your paper is the footnotes part this paper requires footnotes and this is a little different than in-text citations instead of putting these whole citations inside the text itself youre using footnotes to direct the reader toward the end of the page where they can see where you got the information from um for the first

How do I Create a Footnote or Endnote? Using footnotes or endnotes involves placing a superscript number at the end of a sentence with information (paraphrase, quotation or data) that you wish to cite. The superscript numbers should generally be placed at the end of the sentence to which they refer.
Footnote or endnote numbers in the text should follow punctuation, and preferably be placed at the end of a sentence. When citing the source for a quotation, the number should be placed at the end of the quotation and not after the authors name if that appears first in the text.
Click where you want to reference to the footnote or endnote. On the References tab, select Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote. Enter what you want in the footnote or endnote. Return to your place in the document by double-clicking the number or symbol at the beginning of the note.
Click where you want to reference to the footnote or endnote. On the References tab, select Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote. Enter what you want in the footnote or endnote. Return to your place in the document by double-clicking the number or symbol at the beginning of the note.
To insert a footnote automatically in a Word document: Click on the point in the text where the footnote should appear. Select the References tab at the top and then click on Insert Footnote Type the text you want into the footnote that appears at the bottom of the page.
In both MLA and APA, a footnote example includes the citation found at the bottom, or foot, of the page corresponding to the superscript number found in the body of the work. The footnote might consist of the type of work and authors name along with other information related to the type of citation.
When using either type of footnote, insert a number formatted in superscript following almost any punctuation mark. Footnote numbers should not follow dashes ( ), and if they appear in a sentence in parentheses, the footnote number should be inserted within the parentheses.
