Hello everyone, in this video were going to talk about different types of printers. Now printers allow the ability to print copies of documents or photos onto paper from a computer. Now there are several different types of printers, but the most common types that are used in homes and businesses are inkjets and laser printers. And there are also a couple of less common printers such as thermal printers and dot matrix printers which well talk about later. So lets first talk about inkjet printers. Now inkjet printers are the most common printers that are used in homes. They are affordable and they produce photo quality results and they are enough to suit the needs of a typical home user. Now an inkjet printer works by the printhead moving back and forth across the paper during printing. And during this process the printhead places ink on the paper in very tiny dots. In fact these dots are so tiny that they are smaller in diameter than a human hair. And a

Total dot gain is the difference between the dot size on the film negative and the corresponding printed dot size. For example, a dot pattern that covers 30% of the image area on film, but covers 50% when printed, is said to show a total dot gain of 20%.
Simply enough, lower the pressure from the print cylinder to the substrate and see if it corrects the issue. If pressure is the issue, your dot areas should come back into conformity.
Dots are typically caused by foreign material inside the machine (for example paper dust, glue from labels or envelopes, paper clips, staples) sticking to or damaging the surface of the drum. Toner builds up on or sticks to these areas on the drum and creates black dots on the printed pages.
A dot matrix printer is an impact printer that prints using a fixed number of pins or wires. Typically the pins or wires are arranged in one or several vertical columns. The pins strike an ink-coated ribbon and force contact between the ribbon and the paper, so that each pin makes a small dot on the paper.
Dot matrix printing, sometimes called impact matrix printing, is a computer printing process in which ink is applied to a surface using a relatively low-resolution dot matrix for layout.
Dot gain refers to a characteristic of halftone printing whereby reflectance of the printed material is less than would be expected from the percentage area coverage of the dots set on film by the imagesetter, or the percentage area coverage expected from a digital code value in the digital representation of the image.
Usually associated with compatible or re-filled cartridges, a leaky cartridge deposits toner inside your printer and onto your paper in places that it's not intended, resulting in black spots.
The dot matrix printer is an impact printer. It prints by striking a ribbon. A few versions of Impact printers are chain wheel, drum and etc.
If your Epson printer is printing out faint images, skipping lines, or is streaking your image with lines, chances are you have a clogged nozzle–a common problem many users have with Epson printers. It's unavoidable that print heads clog over time as small amounts of ink residue dry up and collect in the nozzles.
Dot matrix printers have one of the lowest printing costs per page. They are able to use fanfold continuous paper with tractor holes. Dot matrix printers create noise when the pins or typeface strike the ribbon to the paper, and sound-damping enclosures may have to be used in quiet environments.
