hi in this tutorial I want to show you how to create run on footnotes and useful work to lay them out automatically in this chapter weve got regular InDesign footnotes here so the first thing to do is to run the detach script to separate them into a separate story I do that by selecting some text in the main text Im just running double-clicking of the detach footnote script in the scripts panel thats done here are all the footnotes theyve been copied over to separate story separate text frame now I want to make all of these footnotes run on footnotes the first thing to do is to just lets select this space and the right indent character that comes afterwards which is a leftover from the layout as it was before open the find change just paste those two characters special characters in there replaces with a space change at all in the story in the entire story change all you wont always have to do this step because it depends on how the layout was previously but now what Ive got is

In both MLA and APA, a footnote example includes the citation found at the bottom, or foot, of the page corresponding to the superscript number found in the body of the work. The footnote might consist of the type of work and authors name along with other information related to the type of citation.
Paraphrasing. When you write information or ideas from a source in your own words, cite the source by adding a footnote number at the end of the paraphrased portion. The footnote number should be in superscript, and be placed after any punctuation, like this: This is a paraphrase.
Speech transcript Provide both years in the in-text citation, separated with a slash, the earlier year first. Describe the type of transcript in square brackets (e.g., [Speech transcript]). Provide the site name in the source element of the reference, followed by the URL of the transcript.
When paraphrasing, you must still acknowledge where you got the idea from by including a parenthetical citation. When citing paraphrased information, APA requires you to include the author and date. It is also recommended (but not required) that you include the page number.
Chicago Style Print Report Citation Structure: First name Last name, Title of Work (Publisher City: Publisher, year of publication).
The footnote/endnote begins with the same superscript number as the one that appears in the paper and is followed by a period. Footnotes/endnotes always include a specific page number or numbers where the cited information can be found.
[The information given in a footnote includes the author, the title, the place of publication, the publisher, the date of publication and the page or pages on which the quotation or information is found.]
Speaker last name, First name. Year. Speech Title. Transcript of speech delivered at Location, Month Day, Year. URL.
The Chicago style, when referring to a source of information within the text of a document, in its simplest form, gives a short citation consisting of the name of the author (or authors) and the date of publication. The short references within the text are given wholly or partly in round brackets.
Whether a source is quoted directly or indirectly, paraphrased or summarised, it must be acknowledged with a footnote or endnote. To do otherwise is plagiarism. Notes should include the minimum information necessary for a reader to find and consult your source.
