and everyone quit biochemistry basics here lets talk about resolution of optical microscope in order to understand phenomenon of resolution we must try to understand how the image is formed by the microscope if the light is passed through a small slit it gets deflected the diffraction results in a formation of dark and bright spots it should be noted that as the width of the slit decreases diffraction of light increases now the question is how the diffraction effects ability to see small objects lets consider an example where a slit diffraction Id and produces a diffraction pattern on the screen if we place a convex lens in front of slit then the image of the slit can be seen on the screen instead of diffraction pattern hmm so whats happening here lets see the slits diffracts the light the diffracted light is collected by the convex lens and the lens focuses the diffracted light on one point resulting in an interference pattern which ultimately forms an image now heres the thing

The Valve Index has 1,440 x 1,600 resolution per eye with IPS Fast Switching LCD panels at 80 Hz, 90 Hz, 120 Hz, or 144 Hz refresh rate. While the resolution for the Quest 2 optics is higher, the Index optics can run at a faster refresh rate with a powerful GPU.
A stunning display The Index uses two 1,440-by-1,600 LCD panels that it designed specifically for VR. With these displays, the Index has the exact same resolution as HTCs Vive Pro. But HTC uses OLED screens, which are excellent for contrast and recreating realistic blacks.

In terms of hard numbers, the Valve Index uses a dual LCD display with a 1440 x 1600 resolution per eye.
Display. With a resolution of 1,440 1,600 per-eye, Index uses an LCD display with RGB subpixels which are known for having better fill-factor/less screen door effect (SDE).
The headsets dual 1440x1600 RGB LCDs provide 50% more subpixels than OLED, resulting in greater sharpness for the same rendering cost. In addition, the fill-factor is three times better than OLED, greatly reducing screen door effect.
Display. The headset uses an IPS fast switching 14401600 LCD panel for each eye for a combined resolution of 28801600. The panels are full RGB and can operate at refresh rates of 80, 90, 120, or 144 Hz. The specified field of view is 130, but users report a practical field of view of 120.
Through a VR headset you can experience all these things and the Valve Index is the best device to do it with. Thanks to its advanced screen technology, finger-tracking controllers, and accurate motion tracking stations, the Valve Index is the most comprehensive VR package you can currently have in your home.
The Valve Index only went with LCD in order to use a new LCD tech that allowed high refresh rates and low persistence, it was a downgrade in all other ways except refresh rate. The Quest 2 and Quest 1 have the same refresh rate, so its a side-grade at-best. Contrast matters a lot in VR, too.
Valve Index: Resolution, colors and frame rates Valves first own VR headset offers a resolution of 1,440 by 1,600 pixels per eye.
