\begin{equation}\label{} \end{equation}. Use this if you want the equation to be automatically numbered. You can later reference the equation with \eqref{}, where the text inside the braces is the equation label.
To number an equation in Word, select the equation and go to References Insert Caption, then click New Label and choose your number format. To label the equation, change the Label option in the Caption dialog box to Equation.
Here we see how to create an equation using the \begin{equation} and \end{equation} commands. This equation is automatically numbered, and by including a \label command, we can refer to this number from anywhere within the rest of the document using the \ref command.
Numbering The equation numbers should be enclosed by parentheses and placed at the right-hand side of the page. If you are referring to an equation in the text, use eq. (3) (or other abbreviations). If it is the first word in a sentence, capitalize it, i.e., Eq. (3).
Add captions Select the object (table, equation, figure, or another object) that you want to add a caption to. On the References tab, in the Captions group, click Insert Caption. In the Label list, select the label that best describes the object, such as a figure or equation.
Insert your equation into the center column. Insert your cursor into a space following the table and hit Return. Use the References tab to insert a new caption with the label of Equation.
Equations should be referenced within the text as Eq. (x). When the reference to an equation begins a sentence, it should be spelled out, e.g., Equation (x). Formulas and equations should be created to clearly distinguish capital letters from lowercase letters.
Equations are center-aligned and labeled with right-aligned Arabic numbers enclosed in parentheses. For in-text citations, mention the equation number only, e.g., mention as seen in (2) instead of as seen in Equation (2). - Exception: A sentence beginning with an equation number, e.g., Equation (1) demonstrates
To do this, put ampersand signs around the text you want LaTeX to align, e.g. Each equation can be labelled separately, just put the label command after the relevant equation.
\eqname{} sets the equation name. The width of the equation name decreases the space that is available for the equation. Package nameref is supported to reference the name of the equation. The formatting of the equation name can be changed by redefining \eqnameref .
