And then finally, how to put all that in a paragraph style so that you can apply it to several different parts of your document. All right, lets get started. Most of the time as a graphic designer, youre going to get a document like this with all of the content for your design. So, usually Ill just highlight everything and copy it and then go to my InDesign document, start a new one. And well create that. Ill go to my Type Tool, draw a text box and paste. So this is sometimes how it will come into your InDesign document. So first, we actually need to remove these bullets. How to use bullet points Make sure all items in the list are related to each other. Use the same font and margin width in each bulleted point. Keep bullet points short, preferably no more than three lines long. Begin all items with the same part of speech (active verbs work well) and make sure they are in parallel form.
Right-click, and then click Adjust List Indents. Change the distance of the bullet indent from the margin by clicking the arrows in the Bullet position box, or change the distance between the bullet and the text by clicking the arrows in the Text indent box.
Heres how: Select the bullets in the list by clicking a bullet. Right-click, and then click Adjust List Indents.
Click the File tab and then click Options. Click Advanced. Under Compatibility options for, expand Layout Options, click to select the Dont use hanging indent as tab stop for bullets and numbering check box, and then click OK.
Click Home, and then click ParagraphLine Spacing. Choose the number of line spaces you want from the drop-down menu, or create custom line spacing by choosing Line Spacing Options.
By using the css list-style-position property and setting that to inside our bullets move to the inside of our list element, and in combination with the padding of 0 our list align perfectly with the rest of our text.
To start a numbered list, type 1, a period (.), a space, and some text. Word will automatically start a numbered list for you. Type* and a space before your text, and Word will make a bulleted list. To complete your list, press Enter until the bullets or numbering switch off.
