The short answer is yes, unique binary/hex values will always encode to a unique base64 encoded string. BUT, multiple base64 encoded strings may represent a single binary/hex value. This is because hex bytes are not aligned with base64 digits.
Radix-64 (as described for OpenPGP) OpenPGP, described in RFC 4880, describes Radix-64 encoding, also known as ASCII Armor. Radix-64 is identical to the Base64 encoding described from MIME, with the addition of an optional 24-bit CRC.
The equals sign = represents a padding, usually seen at the end of a Base64 encoded sequence. The size in bytes is divisible by three (bits divisible by 24): All bits are encoded normally.
The steps to encode a string with base64 algorithm are as follow: Count the number of characters in a String. Convert string to ASCII binary format 8-bit using the ASCII table. After converting to binary format, divide binary data into chunks of 6-bits. Convert chunks of 6-bit binary data to decimal numbers.
The difference between Base64 and hex is really just how bytes are represented. Hex is another way of saying Base16. Hex will take two characters for each byte - Base64 takes 4 characters for every 3 bytes, so its more efficient than hex.
With padding, a base64 string always has a length that is a multiple of 4 (if it doesnt, the string has been corrupted for sure) and thus code can easily process that string in a loop that processes 4 characters at a time (always converting 4 input characters to three or less output bytes).
Click on the URL button, Enter URL and Submit. This tool supports loading the Binary File to transform to Base64. Click on the Upload button and select File. Binary to Base64 Online works well on Windows, MAC, Linux, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari.
Base64 encoding is a format designed to prevent communication mishaps during the transfer of binary information. It achieves this through the conversion of binary data and a lookup table data is eventually made in a stream of ASCII characters, which can then be transmitted and decoded.
Base64 only contains AZ , az , 09 , + , / and = . So the list of characters not to be used is: all possible characters minus the ones mentioned above. For special purposes . and are possible, too.
Radix 64 or base 64 is a binary-to-text encoding system that is designed to allow binary data to be represented in ASCII string format. This is an educational project accepts a string from a user and Radix 64 encodes it.
