Tables and figures must all be labelled with numbered captions that clearly identify and describe them. Figure captions are generally placed below the figures, while table captions must be placed above the tables.
Word Click the picture you want to add a caption to. Click References Insert Caption. To use the default label (Figure), type your caption in the Caption box.
Word can add captions automatically as you insert tables or other objects. Select the object (table, equation, figure, or another object) that you want to add a caption to. On the References tab, in the Captions group, click Insert Caption.
The \pard means to reset the paragraph-formatting attributes to their default value, instead of inheriting them (or some of them!) from the previous paragraph. The \par means to end the current paragraph.
This option is accessed through the following steps: Click on File, then Save As Click on the Save As Type drop down arrow. Choose Rich Text Format (*. rtf) from the Save As Type pull-down menu. Click Save.
Photo captions should be written in complete sentences and in the present tense. The present tense gives the image a sense of immediacy. When it is not logical to write the entire caption in the present tense, the first sentence is written in the present tense and the following sentences are not. Be brief.
Select the table you want to add the caption to. Right-click and select Add Caption. The Caption dialog box appears. If the Caption dialog box does not appear, click Insert, point to Reference and then select Caption.
Word Click the picture you want to add a caption to. Click References Insert Caption. To use the default label (Figure), type your caption in the Caption box.
A figure caption is centered under the figure; a table caption is centered above the table (if a caption is more than one line, make it left justified). A Figure and its caption should appear on the same page. All captions should start with a capitalized word and end with a period.
