lets look at two ways you can duplicate a footnote reference one method is used the custom character or custom marks so on the references tab Im going to insert a footnote by launching the dialogue launcher any other typing in a custom mark or choosing from the symbols because its just a symbol if I want to reuse the same sequence or the same character I can do so by inserting symbols and for consistency use the same styles but Im looking to duplicate the sequence number Im going to place the cursor after quick style and add a footnote as a sequence number and I want to recreate that same footnote number one here in this location as well if I just go through and insert the footnote as a footnote as a number its going to of course put in two lets undo that with a control Z so what Im going to do instead is insert it as a cross-reference to the original footnote cross-reference Im selecting footnotes to display and as I reference inserting the footnote number itself in fact oth

How do I Create a Footnote or Endnote? Using footnotes or endnotes involves placing a superscript number at the end of a sentence with information (paraphrase, quotation or data) that you wish to cite. The superscript numbers should generally be placed at the end of the sentence to which they refer.
In both MLA and APA, a footnote example includes the citation found at the bottom, or foot, of the page corresponding to the superscript number found in the body of the work. The footnote might consist of the type of work and authors name along with other information related to the type of citation.
Go to the Insert menu and click Footnote to open the Footnote and Endnote box. Select the options you want in the Footnote and Endnote box. You can choose between footnotes and endnotes, numbering format, custom marks and symbols, a starting number, and whether to apply the numbering to the whole document.
