Using the Footnotes drop-down list at the top of the Footnotes window, choose Footnote Separator. The current separator appears in the window, and the insertion point should be within the separator. Use Words regular formatting tools to change the paragraph indentation on the separator. Click on Close.
Create Footnotes and Endnotes Place your cursor where you want to insert the footnote or endnote. Click the References tab. Click the Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote button. A reference number is placed in the text, and a new footnote or endnote is created. Type your footnote or endnote.
Go to any page or post, write and select the text that you want to be contained in the footnote (which is Gutenberg in our case) right after the word you want the footnote to refer to. Then click on the small arrow in the menu and select the new Add a Footnote option.
To adjust the settings of your footnote, including the numbering style, when to start and stop the numbering of your notes, etc., click on the Expand icon in the Footnotes Group of the References Ribbon. You can have your footnotes and endnotes restart their numbering in each chapter.
Select View Footnotes. Open the list in the bar that appears in the lower part of the document window. Select Footnote Separator.
To add a footnote, go ahead and create a new post or edit an existing article. When youre in the WordPress editor, simply add the shortcode you selected for the footnotes. For example, if you choose double parenthesis as your shortcode, then insert it in the content where you want to add the footnote.
Footnotes appear on the bottom of the page that contains the sentence to which it refers. Endnotes are listed at the end of the paper on separate pages. On the top of the first page, the title Notes is centered one inch from the top of the page. Endnote pages are placed before the bibliography.
The Footnotes pane appears at the bottom of your document. You can edit the color or style of the separator by choosing options on the Home tab, or, to delete the separators, click Footnote Separator in the Footnotes list, and then select and delete the separator line.
Go to the Insert menu and click Footnote to open the Footnote and Endnote box. Select the options you want in the Footnote and Endnote box. You can choose between footnotes and endnotes, numbering format, custom marks and symbols, a starting number, and whether to apply the numbering to the whole document.
Type #fn followed by the number of the footnote. For instance if this is the 4th footnote on that page, the link would be #fn4. Note: This could be # followed by any ID you prefer.
