Change the template type of a library template Navigate to your template by selecting the Manage tab. Select the Templates filter in the left rail. Single-click the template you want to select it, and then click the Edit Template link in the right rail to open the template in the drag-and-drop authoring environment.
Launch Microsoft Word and open the template to edit by clicking the Open option on the File tab. To find templates more quickly, click the All Files drop-down menu and select All Word Templates, then double-click the template to edit.
Create a Document Template Open or create the document that you want to use as the template, then click the File tab. Click Save As. Select a location. Name the file and click the Save As Type list arrow. Select Word Template from the list. Click Save.
You can modify the Normal template to change its default formatting or content so that any new document that you create will use the new settings.
To update your template, open the file, make the changes you want, and then save the template. Click File Open. Double-click This PC.
