Signature Delivery options are available for an additional fee from both UPS and FedEx. If the shipper does not request signature required, and the recipient has signed a delivery release with the carrier, your shipments are typically left at a safe location and out of the weather.
Signatures are a requirement from FedEx for any package valued at $500 or more. Many times customers ask us to waive or remove the signature requirement. Unfortunately, FedEx does not allow the sender to waive the signature requirement for high-value items.
If no signature is required, the shipment will be left at the recipients door. If a signature is required, the driver will typically try to deliver the package up to three times.
A Waiver of Signature is initiated by the Sender and authorizes delivery of mail at the letter carriers discretion (if area is secured and protected from weather) without obtaining the recipients signature. Note: Waiver of Signature must be checked at time of mailing by the Sender. It cannot be amended in transit.
USPS wont drop off the package until a signature is obtained. Once the package is delivered, USPS relays the delivery confirmation to the shipper. This information includes the date, time, and location of delivery. Packages that arent signed for are returned to the local delivery hub.

If no signature is required, you can still refuse delivery once the package has been delivered. Call customer service at 1.800. GoFedEx 1.800. 463.3339 and provide the customer service representative your tracking number.
If no one is available to sign, FedEx will deliver the package in a safe place without obtaining signature. FedEx will obtain a signature from someone at the delivery address, from a neighbor or from a building manager. If no one is available to sign, FedEx will attempt to redeliver the package on another date.
