A team charter is a document that defines your goals, assets, and obstacles. Essentially, its like a product roadmap, except its for a single team. It focuses only on their deliverables and how to best map them out over time. A team charter clearly defines the roles and responsibilities of everyone involved.
How to make a team charter Start with the context. Who is the team leader? Define your vision and objectives. What does success look like for your team? Create deadlines, goals, and milestones that map back to the mission statement. Lay out your checks and balances. Have everyone on the team sign off on the charter.

This includes the purpose, goals, boundaries and the Team Members.
What should go into a team charter? During the initial chartering session, there are several important elements that should be discussed including why the team exists; its purpose, context, roles, procedures, workflows, and norms; and how the team members will accomplish their objectives.
What Are the Elements of a Team Charter? Background. The first thing to do is lay the groundwork for the project. Mission and Objectives. Budget and Resources. Roles and Responsibilities. Team Operations. Scope. Performance Assessment. Activities and Milestones.
A Charter is expected to include some, if not all, of the following elements: potential outcomes and/or expected deliverables, key milestones, and a target timeline - all of which can, if necessary, be further refined by the WG at its onset in conjunction with the CO.
