um but ladies and gentlemen the reason why we did what we did today is because i wanted to first make sure we all knew how to set up using a table to graph functions because we are going to go back to graphing quadratics and cubic functions um but today were going to focus on graphing linear equations now i didnt give you any linear equations because were going to learn a easier way to graph them just like were going to learn easier ways to graph quadratics and cubic functions rather than doing the table method however i wanted you guys to go through all of that work and all of that effort of creating the table of values plotting all the points so that you can understand it doesnt matter what function or equation youre being asked to graph you can always use a table of values you can always use a table of values to graph okay always use a table of values so if i wanted to graph this i could easily set up a table of values and say oh heres x y do negative 3 or negative 2 negativ

The horizontal and vertical lines in a line graph is usually called X axis and Y axis. To represent the point on the graph we need a pair of coordinates, where one represents the x coordinate and the other represents the y coordinate.
Line graphs are used to track changes over short and long periods of time. When smaller changes exist, line graphs are better to use than bar graphs. Line graphs can also be used to compare changes over the same period of time for more than one group.
Learning Line Graphs The Title. The title offers a short explanation of what is in your graph. The Legend. The legend tells what each line represents. The Source. The source explains where you found the information that is in your graph. Y-Axis. In line graphs, the y-axis runs vertically (up and down). The Data. X-Axis.
To plot a linear/line graph follow the below steps: Use the data from the data-table to choose a suitable scale. Draw and label the scale on the vertical (y-axis) and horizontal (x-axis) axes. List each item and place the points on the graph. Join the points with line segments.
The formal term to describe a straight line graph is linear, whether or not it goes through the origin, and the relationship between the two variables is called a linear relationship. Similarly, the relationship shown by a curved graph is called non-linear.
The important use of line graph is to track the changes over the short and long period of time. It is also used to compare the changes over the same period of time for different groups.
Constructing a Line Graph Line graphs consist of two axes: x-axis (horizontal) and y-axis (vertical). Each axis represents a different data type, and the points at which they intersect is (0,0). The x-axis is the independent axis because its values are not dependent on anything measured.
Graph Line Names The X and Y axes are normally defined as ordered pairs in data sets., which is denoted as (X,Y). The X axis is the horizontal line, while the Y axis is the vertical line.
The horizontal label across the bottom and the vertical label along the side tells us what kinds of data is being shown. The horizontal scale across the bottom and the vertical scale along the side tell us how much or how many. The points or dots on the graph represents the x,y coordinates or ordered pairs.
A data point on a line graph represents the quantity or a number that matches a particular time in the x-axis. In the example shown, the number of bicycles sold in the month of January is 50. Similarly, in the month of February 30 bicycles were sold. We can interpret this data for each month using the data point.
