in this lesson were gonna solve a system of equations by graphing so the first equation is y is equal to two x minus three and the second one is negative two over three x plus five so what you want to do is you want to graph the two equations and you want to find out where the point of intersection is thats going to be the solution but lets put some marks on the graph first lets go up to 5 on the y-axis and lets do the same for the x-axis the advantage of drawing a big graph is you can clearly see where the solution is going to be if you draw a graph with the marks closely spaced to each other it might be difficult to see the answer so the bigger the graph the better its going to be now each of these equations is in slope-intercept form so starting with the first equation we can see that m the slope is 2 and the y-intercept is negative 3. so we need to go down at least three units so for the first equation the y intercept is negative three thats gonna be the first point to find

These solutions are also called x-intercepts or roots. If it touches the x-axis at one point, it has one real rational solution. If the graph does not intersect the x-axis, then the equation has no real solutions.
Summary: The solution of 3x + 5 = 2x - 7 is x = -12.
To find the equation of a graphed line, find the y-intercept and the slope in order to write the equation in y-intercept (y=mx+b) form. Slope is the change in y over the change in x.
To solve a system of linear equations graphically we graph both equations in the same coordinate system. The solution to the system will be in the point where the two lines intersect.
A solution to an equation is a value of a variable that makes a true statement when substituted into the equation. The process of finding the solution to an equation is called solving the equation. To find the solution to an equation means to find the value of the variable that makes the equation true.
If the graphs of the equations intersect, then there is one solution that is true for both equations. If the graphs of the equations do not intersect (for example, if they are parallel), then there are no solutions that are true for both equations.
