hello everybody in this video im going to show you how to format the axis on your chart in excel to show the dates correctly so sometimes when you look at the axis you will see that the units are in numbers and people are asking how do i change this and convert it in months and days now there is a bug in excel when you use a scatter chart this is a scatter chart then you will get this bug and you will see numbers instead of dates so what we need to do is you just go to the chart design and you change the chart from scatter to line and then you can choose for example line with markers and then you will have the option suddenly for dates so lets say we set our bounds from january to december and then we set the major month one so we we have a data point for each month then you get this so now we have a data point for each month from january to december and you can play with this you can set here category date you can change the type of the dates and this is how you fix this bug its r

Create a chart Click anywhere in the data for which you want to create a chart. Select Insert Charts and the chart type you want. On the menu that opens, select the option you want. To edit the chart (titles, legends, data labels), select the Chart tab and then select Format.
Creating Your Chart Look for the text option in the sidebar. This will enable you to select columns that associate text with corresponding data points. For each group of data that you want to plot, youll need to select a column of x-values, a column of y-values, and a column for the text labels.
Click Line with Markers. Click the chart area of the chart to display the Design and Format tabs. Click the Design tab, and then click the chart style you want to use. Click the chart title and type the text you want.
If you want to compare values, use a pie chart for relative comparison or bar charts for precise comparison. If you want to compare volumes, use an area chart or a bubble chart. If you want to show trends and patterns in your data, use a line chart, bar chart, or scatter plot.
By far, the easiest way to chart time data is to use a scatter chart. Scatter charts automatically take date or time data and turn it into a time-scale axis.
To add a text box to a bar chart, first click on the bar that you want to annotate. Then, click the Insert tab on the ribbon and click Text Box. A text box will appear on your screen. You can then type your annotation directly into the text box.
Select the data you want to plot in the chart. Click the Insert tab, and then click X Y Scatter, and under Scatter, pick a chart. With the chart selected, click the Chart Design tab to do any of the following: Click Add Chart Element to modify details like the title, labels, and the legend.
Insert a text box on a chart Click the chart to which you want to add a text box. On the Format tab, click Insert Shapes, and then click the Text Box icon . In the chart, click where you want to start a corner of the text box, and then drag until the text box is the size that you want.
Double-click the chart you want to add notes to. At the right, click Setup. Add labels. Enter the data range with your notes.
Show or hide a data table Select a chart and then select the plus sign to the top right. To show a data table, point to Data Table and select the arrow next to it, and then select a display option. To hide the data table, uncheck the Data Table option.
