GIF is a commonly used format, but it has inefficient compression, which means larger file size and slower page load times. Wouldnt it be great if you could keep your old GIF images, but serve them to users in next-generation formats that are a fraction of the size?
The GIF file format only supports a palette of 256 colors, meaning images may have a low resolution or even look slightly blurry. Because they use multiple images, animated GIF files can sometimes be tricky to return to and edit.

Each image is stored in its own block, which consists of two or three parts: the Local Image Descriptor, an optional Local Color Table, and the compressed Image Data. Bad for the climate They slow down the site or the app you are using. Due to their large size, they require a relatively large amount of energy to be transferred and rendered, so they are also bad for our environment. You might reconsider when thinking of sending a GIF to someone.
The first three bytes are called the signature. These should always be GIF (ie 47=G, 49=I, 46=F). The next three specify the version of the specification that was used to encode the image. Normally the version string will be either 89a (ie 38=8, 39=9,61=a) or 87a (ie 38=8, 37=7,61=a). Whats In A GIF - Bits and Bytes - GifLib GifLib whatsinagif bitsandby GifLib whatsinagif bitsandby
