we are inside indesign and i would like to show you what overset text is and how you can fix it when this problem occurs so very simple scenario just here guys i have a block of text happily sitting inside of its text frame now with the black arrow tool selected the selection tool if i just grab say the bottom edge and drag up we now see a little red plus sign in the bottom right corner of the text box thats indesigns way of saying oh hey youve got more text than youve actually got text box some of the text contained in here cant actually be currently seen okay now i will grant you that that feedback from indesign is pretty subtle if youre working through a big document it could be a little easy to miss but i want to also put your mind at rest lets for example come up to file docHub pdf presets smallest file size so im just doing a quick export out of my pdf just pop that on the desktop just choosing the default to choose export and this is what i wanted you to see just here th

What symbol indicates that a text frame has more text than it can hold--that is, overset text? A red plus sign in the lower-right corner of a text frame.
Here are some ways to fit text in a text box manually: Change the size or font of the text. Delete text. Increase the size of the text box. Reduce the line spacing. How? On the Format menu, click Paragraph, and then click the Indents and Spacing tab. Under Line spacing, select the options that you want.
To fit the text frame to the content, select the frame using the Selection tool, and choose Object Fitting Fit Frame to Content. The bottom of the text frame fits the contents of the text. To resize using the Scale tool , drag to resize the frame. (See Scale type.)
InDesign: Errors Troubleshooting Double-click the error count at the bottom of the Interface. A new window will appear. Navigate through the drop-down menus to see the errors. Double-click an error to move the page its on. Alternatively, click the page number link (orange). Make edits as needed.
Text frames are the areas in the InDesign document where you place text. To create a text frame, choose the text tool from the Tools palette, then drag a rectangle shape in the document. You can move or resize the text frame as necessary.
A simple double click on the red/green circle (or Window Output Preflight) and you will see the Preflight panel that will show you all the errors in your document including overset text. To access the Auto-size options, do the following: Select a text frame and choose Object Text Frame Options. Click Auto-size. Select an auto size option to apply when text is added or deleted: From the anchor proxy, click a reference location to resize from.
If you want to fix it manually, click on the red box in the lower right corner of the text frame, and your cursor will turn into a loaded place gun. Simply draw a new frame as desired.
