in this video were going to look at how to solve quadratics by using graphs now in a previous video ive showed you how to solve it whenever equals zero equals a number in this video were going to look at slightly more complex examples so um just to recap what i covered at the end of the last video here weve got the graph of y equals x squared minus two x plus four and we can use this graph to solve an equation such as this x squared minus two x plus four equals two and all you do is if youve got the graph of y equals x squared minus 2 x plus 4 so the graph of the expression on the left hand side of the equation and youve got thats equal to 2 well if you draw the graph y equals 2 on the graph also so lets just draw that now so y equals 2 is the horizontal line passing through 2 on the y-axis like so and to find the solutions to this equation all you need to do is find where those two graphs meet so you just draw the graph for this the graph for this and you find where they meet

To write an algebraic proof, first draw a vertical line. Label the left column Statements and the right column Reasons. On the left column, work through each step of a problem to solve for a variable. On the right column, justify each step by writing the property that associates with each step.
To make a true equation, check your math to make sure that the values on each side of the equals sign are the same. Ensure that the numerical values on both sides of the = sign are the same to make a true equation. For example, 9 = 9 is a true equation. 5 + 4 = 9 is a true equation.
Using equality-preserving transformations to prove an equation. One way to prove that an equation is true is to start with one side (say, the left-hand side) and to convert it, by a sequence of equality-preserving transformations, into the other side.
To solve any equation we need to perform arithmetic operations, to separate the variable, such as: Adding the same number on both sides. Subtracting same number on both sides. Multiplying with the same number on both sides. Dividing by same number on both the sides.
We have 4 ways of solving one-step equations: Adding, Substracting, multiplication and division. If we add the same number to both sides of an equation, both sides will remain equal.
Simplify both sides of the equation as much as possible using the order of operations (distribute, combine like terms, etc.) If the variable (letter) youre trying to solve for appears on both sides of the equation, move one to the other side.
Substitute the number for the variable in the equation. Simplify the expressions on both sides of the equation. Determine whether the resulting equation is true. If it is true, the number is a solution.
To prove in mathematics means to write a proof of a statement in the context of a mathematical theory. A proof will be an argument starting from the axioms of the theory and previous proven results and concluding with the statement to be proved that uses logical correct deductive steps (i.e. a valid argument).
