You can go into Design Mode either by clicking the Design Mode button on the toolbar or by selecting Design Mode from the Edit menu. Use these same options to exit Design Mode.
Freeze columns and rows Select the cell below the rows and to the right of the columns you want to keep visible when you scroll. Select View Freeze Panes Freeze Panes.
Excel also allows you to add a predetermined style to your chart or to create your own style. Once youve created a chart, click on it and look under Chart Tools Design Chart Layouts. This gives you different chart layouts.
The dollar sign fixes the reference to a given cell, so that it remains unchanged no matter where the formula moves. In other words, using $ in cell references allows you to copy the formula in Excel without changing references.
Now you can click on the worksheet to add that shape in its default size, or drag on the worksheet to create a shape in a specific size. Tip: Press the Shift key while you drag, to constrain the shape.
One reason why you may not be able to format cells is because the cells are locked. To check if the cells are locked, go to the Review tab and click on Protect Sheet. If there is a checkmark next to Locked, then the cells are locked and you will not be able to format them.

Keep formula cell reference constant with the F4 key 1. Select the cell with the formula you want to make it constant. 2. In the Formula Bar, put the cursor in the cell which you want to make it constant, then press the F4 key.
Set all automatic formatting options at once Click File Options. In the Excel Options box, click Proofing AutoCorrect Options. On the AutoFormat As You Type tab, check the boxes for the auto formatting you want to use.
Click the Design Protect Sheet or (Review Protect Sheet) to protect current worksheet. 3. In the opening Protect Sheet dialog box, enter your password, and remember not to check the Format Cells option, and click the OK button. Next reenter your password in the Confirm Password dialog box, and click the OK button.
