hey everyone Nick barber here Ive been getting a lot of questions about formatting inside of Microsoft Word specifically when it comes to bullets so weve been seeing things where formattings off things like this look at my second bullet the the second line of the text falls way left of where where it should be or somehow the bullets get reformatted and youre not really sure how to fix it Ill show you how to do that in this video right here first thing we need to do is we need to turn our rulers on in my version of Microsoft Word I go to view then rulers and thats what you want to see up at the top up here we see just looks like a ruler we see our tab stops over here on the left if you cant find it in that tab and youre not sure what to do go ahead and go to word and go to about word and we want to figure out what version were in in that case what I would do here if Im not sure about how to show my rulers is go to Microsoft Word for Mac how to find rulers Id type that into Goo

Go to File Options Proofing. Select AutoCorrect Options, and then select the AutoFormat As You Type tab. Select or clear Automatic bulleted lists or Automatic numbered lists.
The problem with wrong bullet formatting The formatting for the bullet itself is stored in the last character of the paragraph the paragraph mark itself. It is usually invisible but it is still selectable. So all that you have to do is to select it and then press CTRL Spacebar which resets the formatting.
Right-click, and then click Adjust List Indents. Change the distance of the bullet indent from the margin by clicking the arrows in the Bullet position box, or change the distance between the bullet and the text by clicking the arrows in the Text indent box.
Click one of the bullets at the level you want to change in the document. Right-click the bullet and select Adjust List Indents in the pop-up menu. In the Adjust List Indents window, change the Bullet position to adjust the bullet indent size or change the Text indent to adjust the text indent size after a bullet.
Define a new bullet Select the text or bulleted list you want to change. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click the arrow next to Bulleted List. , and then click Define New Bullet. Click Symbol and then click the symbol you want to use. Click OK.

By default, when you start a bulleted or numbered list, Word applies the built-in List Paragraph style. You can check if that style has acquired center formatting. Do the following: Press Ctrl+Shift+S to display the Apply Styles pane. Type in List Paragraph and then click the Modify button.
Shift + Tab will do it.
