heres how you re-ink an old bait stamp this is one of the original models probably from the 1940s or so you can re-ink a dry pad but its easier if you just replace the whole pad so buy one of these here theyre still making them and you can get one on amazon ill put a link down there if you want so were just going to swap out the old pad for the new one here you push the stamp about halfway down and hit this button here to lock it then the ink pad is in this little box here push down on the tab and flip it towards you thats the dry one you want to pull that out its not really attached in any way so you can just grab it and pull im using these pliers so i dont get my fingers all dirty yank it and get the new one here if you look closely you can see its not a perfect rectangle its more shaped like a gold bar you know like a frost room the big side is meant to face outwards where it hits the stamp so just jam it in there close it back up and youre ready to stamp i find it work

The short answer is no - legal professionals still use bates numbering - but documents and discoverable information have become overwhelmingly electronic. One thing to keep in mind is that native document productions usually can not include a physical bates stamp without first being imaged.
The Bates-stamp, or bates numbering has been around for a long time: Edwin G. Bates patented his device for applying consecutive numerical stamps to documents in 1892. In the old days, Bates-stamping documents required a person to literally stamp each page of the set of documents to be produced.
Use a font with good numerals. Among system fonts, I like Franklin Gothic Medium or Franklin Gothic Demi. Avoid fonts that are condensed or dark on the page (e.g., Arial Black). These fonts are hard to read at small sizes and dont stand up well to scanning or photocopying.
Step 1 Open Your PDF. Open the PDF file you want to apply Bates Numbering to. Step 2 Insert Bates Numbering. Switch to the Edit Document tab and click on the Add Bates Numbering icon. A pop-up window will appear. Step 3 Customize Bates Numbering. In this window, you can fully customize your Bates Numbers.
It gained its name from the Bates Automatic Numbering-Machine, patented in the 1890s by Edwin G. Bates. This sequential-numbering stamp was used to manually mark each page in a record.
Then follow these steps to automatically add Bates Numbers to each page in the document set: Open the file. Click Tools. Select Edit PDF. Choose More. Click Bates Numbering and Add. Select Output Options to customize the serial numbers. Click OK.
The original machine described by Bates allowed numbering with a four-digit sequence, ranging from 0000 to 9999. For example, page 852 in a document set would be 0852. Courts and law firms quickly adopted this system.
Removing Bates Numbers on PDFs Open the file in PDF Reader Pro. Click Editor Select Bates Numbers Click Remove Bates Numbers Select your file and click Apply
Remove Bates stamps Select Edit Insert Bates Numbering Remove to permanently remove Bates numbers from currently open files. Other header and/or footer elements, if any, are retained. An information box instructs you how to interpret the results of the operation.
Click Insert Bates Number. The system will default to inserting 6 Digits and start at number one. Click Ok. 7. Click Ok a second time and the document will now be numbered sequentially. 8.
