hello programmers this is a video about finding the best fit line or trend line when youre looking at data that may not have all the data points in a line already im going to start out in an excel to visualize some data and then quickly move over into matlab so from excel lets say i have the perfect case first where everything already lies on a straight line ive got my x values and my y value and every y value is just 10 times the x value so i can visualize this with a graph in excel and i can see all the points are already on the line and if i wanted to put an equation down that represents this line i could do it in slope intercept form where im saying the equation is y is equal to and then m stands for the slope or we can look at any two points and say whats the change in y over the change in x so any two y value points weve got a change of y of 100 and then the change in x for any two points is 10. so my equation is going to be just 100 divided by 10 and we can simplify that
