Hey this is Ralph, and in this video I want to make sure that Im using indentations and tab stops properly for bullet and numbered lists. Okay so Im working on this report template, and Im using the guide over at University of Wellington as a sample that I can rely on. Now, they do have a section on here -- check this out. So theyve got a checklist, which is basically just a bulleted list, and notice that the bullets are lined up with the the title or this heading, Appendix A. But on Appendix B, bullets, even though theyre different styles, are not properly lined up and they really should be. We can see it a little further on when they get into an example on the same page here. Let me find it. Here we go. So in a sample of an executive summary, we can see that weve got these sections, purpose and method, and then findings or recommendations for increasing, and the bullets are not lined up. Its an easy mistake to make but its also pretty easy to so

Right-click, and then click Adjust List Indents. Change the distance of the bullet indent from the margin by clicking the arrows in the Bullet position box, or change the distance between the bullet and the text by clicking the arrows in the Text indent box.
Type* and a space before your text, and Word will make a bulleted list. To complete your list, press Enter until the bullets or numbering switch off.

Click Home Bullets, and choose a bullet from the drop-down menu. Keep the table selected, click Home Borders No Border to hide the table borders.
Change text alignment To align the text left, press Ctrl+L. To align the text right, press Ctrl+R. To center the text, press Ctrl+E.
Google Docs On your computer, open a document in Google Docs. Highlight the text you want to indent. In the menu at the top, click Format Align indent. Indentation options. Under Special indent, choose Hanging. Optional: In the box next to Hanging, change the size of the indent. Click Apply.
To copy the selected bullet list, hover over the Home menu and choose Copy. The alternate way to copy a text is to right-click using the mouse and choose Copy option, and the keyboard shortcut to copy is Ctrl + C.
