If you quit or resign without providing prior notice to your employer, the employer generally has to make your final payment available within 72 hours. However, if you provide at least 72 hours notice of your intention to quit, the employer has to make final wages available by the last day of work.
Full and Final Settlement commonly known as FnF process is done when an employee is leaving the organization. At this time, he/she has to get paid for the last working month + any additional earnings or deductions. The procedure has to be carried out by the employer after the employee resigns from their services.
Any tax liability arising on the FnF amount is chargeable from the amount payable. TDS is deductible from the components that are taxable under the Income Tax Act, 1961. Although, the amount paid for gratuity and unpaid leaves is exempt from TDS under the Income Tax Act.
Also known as FnF Settlement, Full and Final Settlement in payroll happens when an employee resigns from an organisation or is terminated by the employer. In this case, the employee has to be paid for the last working month and any additional earnings, including bonuses or incentives.
