A footnote or an endnote consists of two parts the note reference mark and the corresponding note text.
Click where you want to reference to the footnote or endnote. On the References tab, select Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote. Enter what you want in the footnote or endnote. Return to your place in the document by double-clicking the number or symbol at the beginning of the note.
The footnote contains the number of the citation followed by a period and then the citation itself. The citation always includes the authors name and the title of the text, and it always ends with a period. Full notes also include all the relevant publication information in parentheses (which varies by source type).
To cite multiple sources of the same kind in the same footnote, put the sources in chronological order with the oldest first, separating them with a semi-colon. For example: Broder v Saillard (1876) 2 Ch D 692 (Ch); Pemberton v Bright [1960] 1 All ER 792 (CA).
In both MLA and APA, a footnote example includes the citation found at the bottom, or foot, of the page corresponding to the superscript number found in the body of the work. The footnote might consist of the type of work and authors name along with other information related to the type of citation.
Footnotes are one way to make in-text citations. Similar to author-date or author-page, footnotes give you a glimpse into where the information came from. Unlike author-date or author-page, footnotes will provide the information at the bottom of the page rather than in the text itself.
Footnotes to the financial statements refer to extra information that a company supplies about its finances when filing a financial statement. Footnotes are also called supplementary notes that explain the figures and accounts contained in the companys financial statements.

The footnote/endnote begins with the same superscript number as the one that appears in the paper and is followed by a period. Footnotes/endnotes always include a specific page number or numbers where the cited information can be found. The first footnote/endnote to a source provides the full publishing information.
