an example of applying the canny edge detector from the 80s still state-of-the-art we know how the results usually look like we can get good edges for objects that are box-like or polygonal and somewhat less good result for smooth shades and for textured object but actually what what I want to tell you about is not about applying edge detection to natural images but to some different kinds of images like this one what you see here is an electric magnetic stirrer and electron microscopy image of the lattice the vegetable and what you can see are the white stripes here are photosynthetic membranes of the lattice and we got this data from Professor Steve Reich from white man and what they wanted to us to do is to separate the the membranes and find them the boundaries they wanted to use them in tomographic if three-dimensional slices to recover the 3-dimensional structure of this membrane now these pictures I hope you can see the swirling on the screen is of course very noisy and the edge

It has a large field of view ( 3 3) and is highly sensitive over its wavelength range (0.6 to 5 m).
Deep field observations are long-lasting observations of a particular region of the sky intended to reveal faint objects by collecting the light from them for an appropriately long time. The deeper the observation is (i.e. longer exposure time), the fainter are the objects that become visible on the images.
Thousands of galaxies can be seen in the image, the faintest of which are about 1 billion times fainter than what can be seen with the naked eye. This is referred to as a medium-deep wide-field image.
It has a large field of view ( 3 3) and is highly sensitive over its wavelength range (0.6 to 5 m). The purpose of NIRSpec is to provide low (R~100), medium (R~1000), and high-resolution (R~2700) spectroscopic observations in support of the four main science themes of JWST.
Webbs larger primary mirror has six times the light-gathering power of Hubbles primary mirror. This is important at the longer, dimmer wavelengths of light Webb looks at. Hubble can see some infrared wavelengths, but it was optimized to see shorter ultraviolet and visible light.
Webbs First Deep Field is the first operational image taken by the James Webb Space Telescope. The deep-field photograph, which covers a tiny area of sky visible from the Southern Hemisphere, is centered on SMACS 0723, a galaxy cluster in the constellation of Volans.
Webb has the capacity to look 13.6 billion light years distantwhich will be the farthest weve ever seen into space. This image of the galactic cluster known as SMACS 0723 contains thousands of galaxies, some of which are as far away as 13.1 billion light years. (A single light year is just under 6 trillion miles.)
The Faint Object Spectrograph (FOS) was a spectrograph installed on the Hubble Space Telescope. It was replaced by the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph in 1997, and is now on display in the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC.
