On the Home tab, click the Dialog Box Launcher next to Number. Tip: You can also press Ctrl+1 to open the Format Cells dialog box. In the Format Cells dialog box, in the Category list, click Currency or Accounting. In the Symbol box, click the currency symbol that you want.
So to change the default currency symbol in Excel, it has to be done from the Control Pane settings. Type ctrl without the marks in the windows search box on the bottom left corner of taskbar on the screen. Type your local currency symbol in the Currency Symbol Textbox.
To set the Accounting Number Style in Excel, go to the Custom Styles section of the Home tab. Select the Accounting Number Format option on the right side of the dialogue box. Select the accounting style you want to apply by double-clicking the style name and selecting OK.
Generally, you should use the Format Cells dialog (Ctrl+1) or Home Number Accounting Number Format option to apply a currency formatting to a cell.
To change the default currency settings in Windows, in Control Panel, choose Clock and Region Region Additional Settings. On the Currency tab, in the Currency symbol box, type or select a currency symbol.
The Currency format aligns the dollar signs at the left edge of the number rather than the cell, and there is no extra space between the value and the right edge of the cell. Negative numbers are not displayed in parentheses, but they have a negative symbol, and zero values are displayed with an actual zero.
Select the cells that you want to format and then, in the Number group on the Home tab, click the down arrow in the Number Format box. Choose either Currency or Accounting.
To apply a custom currency format to your spreadsheet: On your computer, open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets. Highlight the data you want to format. Click Format. Number. Click Custom currency. Search in the menu text box to select a format. You can also add your own custom currency format into the text box. Click Apply.
