Trading with cash in a brokerage account seems straightforward, but access to cash after selling stock may not be immediate. The settlement date, when the buyer gets shares and the seller gets money, is typically two trading days after the transaction. So, if you sell stock on a Monday, you won't receive cash until Wednesday. This lag time between transaction and settlement is important to understand for distinguishing between settled and unsettled trades.
