Add comments in Excel Select the cell that you want to comment on. Go to the REVIEWtab and click on the New Comment icon in the Comments section. Note. To perform this task you can also use the Shift + F2 keyboard shortcut or right-click on the cell and choose the Insert Comment option from the menu list.
Make sure that the Show Comments option is enabled. This can be done by going to File Options Advanced. Under Display options for this workbook, check the Show Comments box.
