If you selected multiple items, they will all be locked together and cannot be moved. To unlock an annotation, first select it. Then click the Unlock icon from the tool bar or use the pop-up menu again, this time choosing Unlock.
Create footnotes Place the insertion point where you want the footnote reference number to appear. Choose Type Insert Footnote. Type the footnote text.

Change footnote numbering and layout Choose Type Document Footnote Options. In the Numbering And Formatting tab, select options that determine the numbering scheme and formatting appearance of the reference number and footnote text.
Method 2: Show the Note Pane To begin with, click View tab. Then choose Draft view. Next click References tab. And then click Show Notes option in Footnotes group. Now there shall be a note pane at the bottom of the screen whose size you can adjust. Make sure you select All Footnotes.
Actual or alternate text may only be applied if the character is not read properly by the assistive technology. Footnotes or endnotes must be placed in a tag. The reference character is placed in a label and the body of the note is placed in a tag. Each Note must have a unique ID.
Click the Layout tab, and select options that control the look of the footnote section on the page. Click OK.
