In this video Id like to show you how to insert a symbol in Microsoft Word. And this can be pretty useful when youre looking for a character, a graphic, or some type of image that isnt available on the keyboard. So let me show you what I mean. If I go to, actually first lets dial up this font so its easier for you to see, if I go to Insert and then Symbol notice first of all that I have a lot of symbols, some of these Ive used recently, some I have not. But they give me a lot of symbols here. Im going to go ahead and go to More Symbols. And then here we have a whole bunch of different symbols we can use. I like to use the mathematical operators for some of the work I do. Where just to show you briefly here, notice here theres a less than or equal sign, greater than equal sign, these arent symbols that I cant get from my keyboard. I cant get that equal part of the less than sign. So if I like a symbol, I want to select it, click Insert, and there you go. so heres my les

Click Add-ons in the top menu bar. Hover above Show in the drop-down menu. Hover above Show again in the slide-out menu. Choose the type of non-printing character you wish to see including Non-breakable spaces, Spaces, Tabs, Page breaks, and Line breaks.
Insert a Special Character Place the cursor where you want to insert a special character. Click Insert on the menu bar. Select Special characters. A dialog box opens up, where you can select a special character. Locate a special character in the search box. Click a special character. Click Close.
In Google Docs, use the Help menu to locate the Special symbols menu. This can be used to find almost any Unicode character you would like to insert into your text.
To insert a text box: Click Insert, then select Drawing from the drop-down menu. The Drawing dialog box will appear. Click the Text box command. Click and drag in the drawing area to create the text box. Release the mouse, and a text box will appear. When you are satisfied, click Save Close.
End users: To display non-printing characters in a Doc, go to View Show non-printing characters. Visit the Help Center to learn more about viewing document outlines, summaries, rulers, and non-printing characters.

Turning the feature on is easy simply navigate over to the Google Docs toolbar, select View, and hit Show non-printing characters. To toggle it off, repeat this process. When non-printing characters are shown, theyll be represented with symbols and text.
