Jens Miller, a PhD candidate at the University of Bohol, presents joint research with the University of Applied Sciences in Munster on PDF encryption. PDFX introduces two novel attacks on PDF encryption: direct exfiltration and mobility gadgets. Direct exfiltration exploits flaws in the PDF data format structure, allowing for partial encryption. Mobility gadgets exploit flaws in the US block cipher modes of operation. The talk will provide an introduction to the research and outline the topics to be discussed.
