Pull down Tools to Options. Select the Edit tab and change Insert/paste pictures as: to something else. I like Behind text. You can also adjust how the picture and text interact by right clicking on the picture and pulling down to Format Picture, then selecting the Layout tab and choosing one of the options.
Open the photo you want to edit. Tap Edit. Crop. To crop the photo to different aspect ratios, like a square, tap Aspect ratio . To change the photos perspective, tap Transform . Drag the dots to the edges of your desired photo or tap Auto. To save a copy of the photo with your edits, at the bottom right, tap Save.
Find the image file on your computer in a folder, a window, or on your desktop. Click and hold on the image file. Drag it into an open Word document and release the click. The image will be placed in the Word document where you dropped it.
After you insert a picture in your document, click it, and then click the Picture Tools Format tab. In Word, you can choose color variations, crop, compress at different levels, and apply some special effects.
