were in Microsoft Word 2016 Im going to show you how to put a footer into a document so weve got one of my college documents open here and in a previous video we went ahead and added a header so lets go ahead and add a footer which is going to be at the bottom of the screen so lets go to the insert tab and we will click on footer and we can add in any particular one we want lets just go ahead and scroll down a little bit and well choose this viewmaster one all right so theres our viewmaster it went ahead and put a page number there and its going to put the date in and here we can put at the bottom lab one and then the class number so lets go ahead here to the close header and click close and now we can see when we scroll down weve got exactly what we put in there and we did not put the data in but we can do that actually in a few seconds here and weve got the lab etc etc so lets go back in and make a change to our footer and were going to go ahead and go back in and this

Insert a header or footer On the View menu, click Header and Footer. Click the Print Settings tab. Under Headers and footers, do one of the following: In the Header Format or Footer Format dialog box, do one of the following: Select the formatting options that you want for the header or footer.
Change or delete a header or footer on a single page Double-click the first page header or footer area. Check Different First Page to see if its selected. If not: Select Different First Page. Add your new content into the header or footer. Select Close Header and Footer or press Esc to exit.
Add a standard or customized header or footer Go to Insert Header or Footer. Choose from a list of standard headers or footers, go to the list of Header or Footer options, and select the header or footer that you want. When youre done, select Close Header and Footer or press Esc.

Solution: If you cant directly edit footer text, its probably the case that the footer placeholder has been turned off in Slide Master view. To change that situation, you can open Slide Master view and make changes there, as described below. On the View tab, select Slide Master.
In most cases, when you cant edit the header or footer, the reason is that the content isnt supported for editing in Word Online. You should be able to download the document to your local drive, though.
Go to Layout Page Setup Header Footer. Under Header or Footer, on the pop-up menu, select (none).
Scroll to the first page of your Table of Contents. If youre not in the Header and Footer view, select the Insert tab, click Footer and click Edit Footer. If Same as Previous or Link to Previous is visible just above the footer, remove it by clicking Link to Previous in the Design tabs Navigation section.
Headers and footers are only visible in Print Layout view and Print Preview. To indicate when the headers and footers are not active, the information contained within them appears greyed out or faded.
Click INSERT Header Footer. On the Slide tab, check Footer. In the box below Footer, type the text that you want, such as the presentation title. Check Date and time to add that to your slides.
