well hi everyone Steve Patterson here from photoshop essentials comm in this video Ill show you how to turn a photo into a pattern of colored dots with Photoshop Ill be using Photoshop CC but every step is fully compatible with Photoshop cs6 lets get started heres the image Ill be using I downloaded this one from docHub stock if we look in the layers panel we see the image on the background layer lets start by converting the background layer into a smart object first double-click on the name background to rename it in the new layer dialog box name the layer photo and then click OK back in the layers panel click on the menu icon in the upper right corner then choose convert to smart object this converts the layer into a smart object and if we look in the preview thumbnail we see a smart object icon in the lower right corner to add a background color to the effect well use a solid color fill layer click the new fill or adjustment layer icon at the bottom of the layers panel then c
