How to change the background color on Google Docs Go into your document, or open a new one by going to docs. Click File, located in the top toolbar. Select Page setup. Click the drop-down under Page color, located in the bottom left corner of the pop-up, and select your desired color from the list of presets.
Go to the Slide menu, and select Background. In the window that appears, click the option next to Background Image. On the Insert image dialogue, click Choose file to select a custom image for your background.
