We recently discovered the joy of drawing on glossy photo paper with Sharpie markers. Its become one of our favourite ways to use Sharpies! Today were pairing it up with some dollar store frames for a quick and easy Fathers Day gift. Youll need just three simple supplies, to make this simple art project.
Im also addicted to drawing on glossy surfaces, lolthere is something highly satisfying about it. Most black inks stand out starkly against the super-white plastic backdrop. When you use colored inks, you lose none of the brightness or color so to speak, its as vibrant as you can get.
COLOR: You can use pretty much any type of ink or paint for this process but I found the more fluid the paint (or ink) the better results. The materials that I like to use are liquid watercolors, ink sprays, acrylic inks and fabric dye.
I know how smoothly a Sharpie slides across a plastic surface, and I wondered if it would do the same on a glossy piece of photo paper. I tried it out, and ohhhh myyyy. It sure does! And with the photo paper being glossy, the shine and intensity of the marker ink was just gorgeous!

Using the wrong writing implement can permanently damage old photographs and other items in your collection. Never use a pen on your photographs! They often have non-archival oils and solvents in them. The inks can smear, bleed through to the front, or transfer to other images in your collection.
Parchment paper or baking paper also works like tracing paper.
Strathmore 400 Series Pastel Paper Assorted Colors This paper works very well for portraits, landscapes, and other situations where the texture can add interest to the drawing. Additionally, it comes in several light pastel colors that work well with graphite.
