one of the ways we record data about sedimentary rocks is by using a stratigraphic column so its a graphical representation of the rocks and so we have a vertical axis which is the scale and so this is the thickness of the rock unit so for example in this image over here the pen is 15 centimeters long approximately and so if I was going to draw this rock or graphically represented at the same scale I might go from 0 here to something like 15 centimeters up here if you are measuring much thicker rocks youd change the scale for that and then across the x-axis here we have the grain size so what this does is it allows us to record the grain size graphically with the thickness of the rock and also within this layer will draw the beds relative for the grain size and will also include the sedimentary structures that are present so as an example I am going to I dont know exactly what the grain size is in this image but Im going to say basically this whole area in through here is very fin

Stratigraphic strip logs are diagrammatic illustrations of. measured stratigraphic sections. They are very powerful. tools which can aid us in our interpretation of ancient deposi- tional processes, environments, and geologic history.
Creationists should embrace the geologic column as it is robust evidence of a global Flood. This is a good example of how data should be thoroughly examined and rigorously tested to give us a better understanding of Flood processes.
A geologic column, also called a stratigraphic column, is a tool used by geologists to determine how an area has changed over geologic time. They are diagrams that depict the stratigraphy, or layers of the rock record, with the oldest at the bottom, and the youngest at the top.
The first level of the time scale are the eons: Cenozoic (recent life), Mesozoic (middle life), Paleozoic (ancient life), and Precambrian.
Graphic logs are a powerful tool used by geologists to record the detail of a sequence of rocks in a graphical form. A graphic log can be constructed from a rock exposure (such as a cliff, road cutting or beach platform), cores from a borehole or using remote sensing images.
Stratigraphy is a branch of Geology and the Earth Sciences that deals with the arrangement and succession of strata, or layers, as well as the origin, composition and distribution of these geological strata. The study of archaeological and natural stratification therefore involves the assessment of TIME and SPACE.
The geologic time scale was developed after scientists observed changes in the fossils going from oldest to youngest sedimentary rocks. They used relative dating to divide Earths past in several chunks of time when similar organisms were on Earth.

A geologic column is a series of layers of different types of rock, placed by the settling of sediments over millions of years, often when the rock was a sea bed. Many places that used to be sea beds are now on land and can easily be studied by humans.
While the geologic column consists of ten basic layers, all ten layers are found in very few places, making up less than 1% of the earths surface. The geologic column assumes the three principles of Stratiography.
