The footnote contains the number of the citation followed by a period and then the citation itself. The citation always includes the authors name and the title of the text, and it always ends with a period. Full notes also include all the relevant publication information in parentheses (which varies by source type).
To improve your writing and avoid cluttering the page, you should use footnotes sparingly and only to provide helpful additions or citations.
Single space your footnotes, but add a space between each one. Add a period behind the numbers that start the footnotes. Change the format of the numbering in the footnotes so that the numbers are not in superscript.
If you must include the footnote in the middle of a sentence for the sake of clarity, or because the sentence has more than one footnote (try to avoid this!), try to put it at the end of the most relevant phrase, after a comma or other punctuation mark.
