Hi, Im Rob. Welcome to Math Antics! In this lesson, were going to talk about the Distributive Property, which is a really useful tool in Algebra. And if you watched our video called The Distributive Property in Arithmetic, then you already know the basics of how the Distributive Property works. The key idea is that the Distributive Property allows you to take a factor and distribute it to each member of a group of things that are being added or subtracted. Instead of multiplying the factor by the entire group as a whole, you can distribute it to be multiplied by each member of the group individually. And in that previous video, we saw how you can take a problem like: 3 times the group (4 + 6) and simplify it two different ways. You could either simplify what was in the group first, OR you could use the distributive property to distribute a copy of the factor 3 to each member of the group, and no matter which way you go, you get the same answer. But in Algebra, things are a little

In algebra, distribution means to spread out terms equally across an expression. We refer to what were doing as the distributive property, which can be defined as a(b + c) = ab + ac. Why do we distribute? Its a way of simplifying expressions.
The order of operations can be remembered by the acronym PEMDAS, which stands for: parentheses, exponents, multiplication and division from left to right, and addition and subtraction from left to right. First, simplify what is in parentheses. Then, do any exponents. Next, multiply and divide from left to right.
When you distribute something, you are dividing it into parts. In math, the distributive property helps simplify difficult problems because it breaks down expressions into the sum or difference of two numbers.
To distribute means to divide something or give a share or part of something. So what does distributive property mean in math? The distributive law of multiplication over basic arithmetic, such as addition and subtraction, is known as the distributive property.
The distributive property is also known as the distributive law of multiplication. This distributive property of multiplication is applicable over addition and subtraction. The formula for the distributive property is expressed as, a (b + c) = (a b) + (a c).
The distributive property states that an expression which is given in form of A (B + C) can be solved as A (B + C) = AB + AC. This distributive law is also applicable to subtraction and is expressed as, A (B - C) = AB - AC. This means operand A is distributed between the other two operands.
When you distribute something, you are dividing it into parts. In math, the distributive property helps simplify difficult problems because it breaks down expressions into the sum or difference of two numbers.
3 x 6 = 3(6) = 3 6. 3 (2 + 4) = 3 6 = 18. The distributive property of multiplication over addition can be used when you multiply a number by a sum. For example, suppose you want to multiply 3 by the sum of 10 + 2.
To apply the distributive property to an algebraic expression, you multiply each term inside the parentheses by the number or variable outside the parentheses. For example, to simplify 2(x + 3), you would multiply 2 by both x and 3, resulting in 2x + 6.
