hi okay im going to continue with conditional distribution so in the last video i did marginal distribution so when you look at conditional distribution we are now looking only at the cells so what are the cells the cells are everything but the total of your two-way table so heres my two-way table and my cells are what i am right now um highlighting all right so i recreated here and it says find the conditional distribution for gender so if you remember gender is looking at the row so i basically just recreated my cells which are empty and what we have here by the way are counts which is the same as frequency so counts are also known as frequency and when i turn a count to a percentage that is called a relative frequency so relative frequency i have a percentage and frequency i have a count so you can be given a table with counts or you can be given a table with relative frequency all right so lets go ahead and take a look how we would find conditional distribution for gender when

Joint probability is the probability of two events occurring simultaneously. Marginal probability is the probability of an event irrespective of the outcome of another variable. Conditional probability is the probability of one event occurring in the presence of a second event.
What is a Conditional Distribution? A conditional distribution is a distribution of values for one variable that exists when you specify the values of other variables. This type of distribution allows you to assess the dispersal of your variable of interest under specific conditions, hence the name.
What is meant by a conditional distribution? A conditional distribution lists the relative frequency of each category of the response variable, given a specific value of the explanatory variable in a contingency table.
This is called a conditional distribution. For example, if we are considering random variables X and Y and 2 is a possible value of X, then we obtain the conditional distribution of Y given X = 2. This conditional distribution is often denoted by Y|(X = 2).
First, to find the conditional distribution of X given a value of Y, we can think of fixing a row in Table 1 and dividing the values of the joint pmf in that row by the marginal pmf of Y for the corresponding value. For example, to find pX|Y(x|1), we divide each entry in the Y=1 row by pY(1)=1/2.
A marginal distribution is a distribution of values for one variable that ignores a more extensive set of related variables in a dataset.
If we want to know the probability that a person prefers a certain sport given that they are male, then this is an example of a conditional distribution. The value of one random variable is known (the person is male), but the value of the other random variable is unknown (we dont know their favorite sport).
Difference Between Marginal and Conditional Distributions The marginal distribution describes the likelihood of an event to occur, independent of others, while the conditional distribution describes the likelihood of an event to occur given the outcome of another.
The conditional expectation (or conditional expected value, or conditional mean) is the expected value of a random variable, computed with respect to a conditional probability distribution.
What is a Conditional Distribution? A conditional distribution is a distribution of values for one variable that exists when you specify the values of other variables. This type of distribution allows you to assess the dispersal of your variable of interest under specific conditions, hence the name.
