Net documentation for the OleDbCommand, Close() closes the connection and returns it to the connection pool, and Dispose() closes the connection and REMOVES it from the connection pool.
You can call the IDisposable. Dispose() method from the finally block of a try/finally statement. By using the finally block, you can clean up any resources that are allocated in a try block, and you can run code even if an exception occurs in the try block.
The Dispose MethodExplicit Resource Cleanup Unlike Finalize, developers should call Dispose explicitly to free unmanaged resources. In fact, you should call the Dispose method explicitly on any object that implements it to free any unmanaged resources for which the object may be holding references.
The Dispose() method The Dispose method performs all object cleanup, so the garbage collector no longer needs to call the objects Object. Finalize override. Therefore, the call to the SuppressFinalize method prevents the garbage collector from running the finalizer.
It is always recommended to use Dispose method to clean unmanaged resources. You should not implement the Finalize method until it is extremely necessary. At runtime C#, C++ destructors are automatically converted to Finalize method.
The main difference between Close and Dispose in the case of SqlConnectionObject is: An application can call Close more than one time. No exception is generated. If you called Dispose method SqlConnection object state will be reset.
IDisposable. Dispose is not called. By default, the garbage collector will automatically call an objects finalizer prior to reclaiming its memory.
NET Garbage Collector (GC). Before the GC deallocates the memory, the framework calls the objects Finalize() method, but developers are responsible for calling the Dispose() method.
Rule description If a type inherits from a disposable type, it must call the Dispose method of the base type from within its own Dispose method. Calling the base type Dispose method ensures that any resources created by the base type are released.
Deletes it from the memory.
