To convert all footnotes to endnotes: At the bottom of a page, right-click the footnote text area, click Note Options, and then click Convert. Finally, click Convert all footnotes to endnotes.
Highlight the reference(s) you wish to delete. Under the References menu (or you can right-click on a reference), select Move Reference to Trash. The reference(s) will be moved to the Trash folder on the left.
When you want to remove a footnote, just highlight its reference number in the text and click Delete. Microsoft Word renumbers the remaining footnotes automatically.
But heres the thing: Its the reference number or mark that you delete (in the body of the text); NOT the footnote or endnote itself. If you delete the footnote or endnote itself, Word for the web renumbers the notes in a new order.
